Design is more than just making things look good. While keeping the “big picture” in mind, we focus on details such as:

Interior Design - Blueprint Analysis

We take the time to understand your needs and desires, personal likes and dislikes, and other intangibles. Knowing the impression you’re trying to make informs our design process.

One of the first steps in our process is a thorough review of all floor plans, and consideration of the use patterns of every space. We cover all the angles, and shape the environment to fit your lifestyle. Form follows function.

The overall design vision will be carried through to each space. Even if the color selections and furnishings will vary, you can be sure that all the rooms will work together in a cohesive, pleasant whole.

Of course, as the old saying goes, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, but there are certain principles and guidelines that make designed products beautiful – innovation, proportion, suitability, color balance, emotionality, honesty, and other factors. These can make the difference between mediocrity and excellence; understanding them elevates our interior design solutions to the highest possible level.

We know where to get the right materials and finishes to create the desired look without breaking the bank. Every project has a budget, and even if it’s sky-high, nobody appreciates wasting money needlessly. We have designer discounts with many suppliers, and can procure millions of items at the best prices.

In today’s fast-paced world, technology and flexibility are paramount. Our team works around the clock, in different time zones, and we’re reachable 24/7. We can provide updates, display renders, and collaborate on documents, regardless of your schedule restrictions or location.

Complete Interior Design

Our interior design process is based on a thorough understanding of your needs, and using our extensive experience to turn your general ideas into concrete solutions. With over 25 years of design work behind us, we have the skills to create beautiful and comfortable living spaces that satisfy the requirements of even the most demanding clients.

We want to make interior design accessible to everyone. Whether your style is minimal or opulent, modern or traditional, big-budget or cost-conscious – our team will create the home of your dreams.

Once the process is finished, we’ll provide you with the complete documentation including visuals, layouts, schematics, lists of materials, and everything else your contractors need to implement our vision. Of course, if your builder has any questions, we’ll be available to help.

This package includes all aspects of interior planning and design that will be permanently installed or attached – flooring materials, paint, moldings, bathroom fixtures, vanities, lighting, etc.

Interior Design Process

Exterior Design

Once the plans and elevations (side views) of the building are completed, our design team will design the actual colors and finishes for them. This process includes brick and stucco work, metal accents, permanent lighting, security cameras and sensors, landscaping, and other elements.

Of course, we will start by discussing your vision of the house and the impression you would like to make. Based on this information, we will create several exterior concepts, and narrow down the specifics based on your feedback. Finally, once all the decisions are made, we will create the completed sketch or render, and provide a list of needed materials, exact paint colors, and other information your contractor will need.

We even have specialized software that will analyze the weather patterns, sunlight, and precipitation (rain and snow) in the specific location of the house, giving us in-depth information about the recommended exterior elements, and “pre-design” advice for increasing living comfort and reducing energy consumption.

Any or all of these services can be ordered in addition to our Interior Design package.

Architectural Collaboration

Our team works together with your architect to create the overall vision for the house.

Why would you want to involve a designer this early in the process?

There are 4 distinct reasons:

  1. Architects have extensive experience with materials, structures, codes, etc. Their job is to make sure the building is safe and code-compliant. They don’t focus on visual design or usability.
  2. Our design experience can provide better options for room layouts, amenities, and features – it’s better to incorporate them into the drawings before they’re submitted for approval.
  3. Having our team review the floor plans adds an extra layer of assurance.
  4. Having access to floorplans gives us a head-start on the rest of the design process.

So, combining the best of both worlds, adding a “fresh eye” to the project, and reducing delays, are all good reasons to have us work with your architect right from the start.

As an optional add-on to the Interior Design package, we can source the appliances, furniture, movable lighting, window shades, artwork, shelf decor, books, and other elements of interior design that go beyond the structure itself.

This is a more personal process, similar to “personal shopping”, so be prepared for a few additional consultations and decisions to make. We have extensive sources for thousands of items, from traditional to outlandish, and we’ll be glad to find just the right sofas, chairs, tables, and bookcases to make every room look exactly as you envision.

Turnkey Outfitting

Going beyond even the furnishings, our specialists can outfit the entire house with every detail, accessory, and supply – including dinnerware, cutlery, glassware, curtains, bed linens, and towels.

This package is perfect for AirBNB / VRBO properties, corporate relocation situations, high-end vacation homes, and other situations where you need a 100% done, “ready-to-move-in”, zero-hassle solution.

Artwork Sourcing & Creation

Art is a very personal and emotional decision. Another benefit of working with Carmona Design is our experience with locating (and if necessary, creating) unique and evocative pieces of artwork.

Our lead designer Tammy Carmona is an artist with decades of experience creating oil paintings, mixed-media 3D assemblages, and unique floral art solutions. Her artistic sense is an invaluable asset for clients looking to elevate their spaces, and our relationships with art suppliers like LeftBank and Saatchi give us access to world-class originals.

Custom artwork is also available – we have connections with industry-leading fabricators who can create it in a variety of media. From 3D metal installations, to laser-carved stone, to gallery-quality canvas and artboard prints, to futuristic acrylic and metal-plate prints, the only limit is our imagination and your budget.

In other words, whether your art vision is an original oil painting from a globally-recognized artist, a personally-made oil or acrylic painting (re-vision of an original, or a completely new concept), or a high-quality photograph of a specific subject – we can accommodate it.

Build Supervision

Our Spec Books provide an excellent guide to building your project, from selecting the right materials to 3D renders that show the intended final result. But construction is a complicated project, prone to errors and supply problems.

Having our specialists supervise the build process can ensure perfect compliance with the design, reduce errors, and result in a better final product. We will work with your build team to confirm the allocation of materials to spaces, receive and analyze photos and videos of the process, and correct problems before it’s too late.

We will also be available to answer any questions your build team may have, which will help you avoid delays. In addition, if last-minute changes are needed, we will ensure they’re implemented in a way that’s consistent with the overall design.
